The 601 line by Espinosa has been synonymous with flavorful in your face blends. They have brought back the 601 Black which has not been regular production since 2016.
Here we are with it being thrown into the mix for a rumored yearly January only release...the 601 Black! This features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Nicaraguan Binder and fillers. The term “smoker’s Connecticut” gets thrown around quite a bit, even I do it with Connecticut’s that we carry, which I stand by but this is truly another one of those in that realm. It’s got more punch and flavor than the Crema so if you are one that’s looking for a bold Connecticut give this limited run a try!!!
The Connecticut wrapper gives you that nice creamy, toasty note but then comes that awesome Nicaraguan blend with those 601 characteristics I love.
Upon first light there’s a blast of deep cedar notes, quickly followed by a dark toasted nuttiness, rounded out with a medium creaminess and a decent dose of white pepper that coats the plate and is prevalent on the retrohale yet with a clean finish!! If you’re feeling froggy jump on this we won’t see these again until 2022!!!
